Lewis Hamilton warns dominant Canada win is no guarantee struggles are behind him

Despite a dominant win at the Canadian Grand Prix yesterday, Lewis Hamilton says he could still come unstuck.

The Mercedes driver was a class apart all weekend in Montreal in contrast to his struggles with the car at the preceding Monaco Grand Prix, where he finished seventh.

The Briton came home almost 20 seconds ahead of team-mate Valtteri Bottas and is now just 12 points behind Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel, who was fourth.

Hamilton said: "I don't think in the five years I've been with the team that I've seen them pull so well together and really work towards the same cause... and then come here and deliver what we’ve delivered - a great blow to the Ferraris."

But ahead of another street circuit in Baku on June 25, Hamilton warned: “The car’s back to where it should be but it doesn’t mean it’s going to be like that every time.

"I think it should put us in a strong position from here moving forwards. We know which direction we need to be developing the car from now on."
