Lord Coe is pushing for Jessica Ennis-Hill to receive her 2011 World Championships gold medal inside the former Olympic Stadium during London 2017.

Tatyana Chernova is among a host of athletes to have been sanctioned for doping violations and the Russian was stripped of that title in November, making Ennis-Hill a three-time world champion.

The now-retired heptathlete has yet to receive her gold but IAAF president Coe is keen for her to be awarded the final medal of her illustrious career in the capital this summer.

“Of course, I would love to see that,” Coe told Standard Sport. “

I can’t say for sure but you ask the question does that instinctively feel like the right venue for that? Of course it does.

“I’m determined that the way these medals are re-presented is not going to be done by a DHL package turning up in someone’s sitting room two years afterwards.

“One of the things I want to see on the integrity unit is the speeding up of sanctions but also the redistribution of medals, which I know is only small comfort if you’ve had that moment ripped away from you in a stadium.”
