Jimmy White is one win away from the Crucible after surviving his second qualifying match for the Betfair World Championship.

The popular 50-year-old, a six-time runner-up in Sheffield, has not reached the main draw since 2006, when he was beaten in the first round by David Gray.

However after defeating Tian Pengfei in his opening qualifier, world number 57 White beat a second Chinese player in Xiao Guodong 10-4 to set up a clash with fellow Englishman Robert Milkins.

The winner of that clash at Sheffield's English Institute of Sport on Sunday will go into Monday's first-round draw for the tournament that begins five days later on Saturday, April 20.

While White's hopes remain alive, six-time champion Steve Davis bowed out in qualifying, the 55-year-old losing 10-7 to Norwegian Kurt Maflin.
