Player boost for Spurs as Jol insists: We are not a bad side and will turn it round

Tottenham's injury difficulties are easing ahead of their Carling Cup match against Middlesbrough at White Hart Lane tomorrow night.

Adel Taarabt, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Aaron Lennon and Wayne Routledge all trained yesterday.

"More and more players are coming back into the reckoning, Teemu Tainio makes us more solid as a unit, while we also have the players to give us a spark," said manager Martin Jol.

Although Tottenham's only league win in seven matches was against bottom-of-the-table Derby, Jol is adamant that the club's performances have improved in recent weeks.

"We are a much, much better side than our league position suggests and we will prove this as the season progresses," said Jol.

"I feel we have done okay over our last three or four games, but results do not reflect this," he added.

"We should have beaten Fulham by a big margin, we could have got something at Manchester United, while we failed to press home the advantage we had against Arsenal."
