Porto are on course

Porto, winners of the UEFA Cup last season, put themselves in the driving seat of their quarterfinal with a 2-0 first leg home win over Lyon.

Porto, who knocked out Manchester United in the last round, went ahead in the 44th minute when Deco Souza scored.

Ricardo Carvalho headed the second after 71 minutes to maintain Porto's record of not having lost at home to a French side for over 30 years.

Coach Jose Mourinho said: "There are still 90 minutes to go in the tie."
