Pressure on League officials

13 April 2012

Football League chief executive David Burns and chairman Keith Harris were expected to come under pressure today from club chairmen at an emergency meeting to discuss the ITV Digital crisis.

With the broadcaster on the verge of liquidation clubs are worried about how much they will get out of the £178.5 million they are owed by the company.

One or two chairmen were planning to put pressure on Burns to stand down a day after ITV chief executive Stuart Prebble resigned for his part in the fiasco.

But he was expected to survive after updating the clubs on their plans to launch a £500m legal action against ITV Digital's parent companies Carlton and Granada.

Around 50 chairmen were due to hear briefings from Harris, League insolvency adviser David Buchler and lawyer John Verrill.
