Quins sign Villasanti

12 April 2012

Harlequins have bolstered their pack with the signing of experienced front-row forward Richard Villasanti from Australian club Cronulla Sharks.

The 26-year-old prop, who earned the nickname 'Villa the Gorilla' for his tearaway performances in helping New Zealand Warriors to a first Grand Final in 2002, will join the London club next week on a two-year deal.

"Richard will add immense strength and experience to what is already a very competent pack of forwards," said Quins head coach Brian McDermott. "He is just the type of player we have been looking for, and I am delighted he is joining us."

He added: "We will be continuing to bolster the squad with the right calibre of person. But, as I have stated many times, it must be the right person."
