Real are desperate for Agger

13 April 2012

Real Madrid are set to make a move for Liverpool's Daniel Agger in the January transfer window.

The centre-half missed most of last season with a broken foot and is struggling to win back his place from Martin Skrtel, who was bought during the Dane's lay-off.

Agger has less than two years left on his contract and, although the 23-year-old expressed his commitment to Liverpool this week he could be tempted by a move to the Spanish champions.

"Agger is a player we have been looking at for a long time and it is likely we will bid for him in January," said Real director Jose Angel Sanchez.

"We already had plans about buying Agger this summer along with some other players but the Robinho situation took so much attention and demanded so many resources from the club that we had to drop the plans. We need a defender and a striker and Agger is top of our list."
