Record ticket sales at London Irish

London Irish are reaping the reward for their Powergen Cup triumph and qualification for the Heineken Cup by nearly tripling their season ticket sales record at the Madejski Stadium.

The Irish, who enjoyed their best season in the Premiership, have sold almost 3,000 season tickets compared to last season's record figure of 1,200.

The downer for the Irish has been MG Rover's decision not to continue its shirt sponsorship. However, this is offset by the arrival of South African World Cup wing Pieter Rossouw, who will help boost gates and income.
