Redknapp angered by youngsters' antics

12 April 2012

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp has threatened to sack four of his club's young players over their behaviour after the FA Cup final.

The unnamed players did not feature in the win over Cardiff at Wembley a fortnight ago but Redknapp was unhappy with their drinking amid the team's celebrations.

Redknapp said in the Mail on Sunday: "These four lads didn't play in the final, but they couldn't even put their beer down on the bus."

He added: "We got back for the reception and the four of them just stood there until they were invited to go home.

"They're players at my club but they might not be for much longer."

With the quartet all being English, Redknapp has also voiced his concerns about the cultural differences between homegrown youngsters and those from abroad.

He added: "You get these 16-year-olds who think they have cracked it and aren't prepared to work and improve and put the hours in. You don't get that with the foreign lads."
