Reid ruled out for season

12 April 2012

Blackburn midfielder Steven Reid will not play again this season after picking up a cruciate knee ligament injury in training.

It is a fresh blow for the the 25-year-old Republic of Ireland international, who has not played since September due to a long-standing back problem.

"We are desperately sorry for the lad," chairman John Williams told the club's official website, www.rovers.co.uk. "He has worked so hard to get back to full fitness after his back injury and was close to making a return to action."

This latest setback is likely to rule Reid out for six months.
