Review after fan strikes Laney

Italy 12 Scotland 29

The Six Nations committee may be forced to review match security after Scotland's Brendan Laney was struck in the face by a supporter in Rome.

Fans ran on to the pitch at the Stadio Flaminio following Scotland's 29-12 victory over Italy, attempting to grab memorabilia from players of both sides - which is a custom in Italy.

Laney and winger Chris Paterson were both jostled as they made their way from the field, the former paying a price for clinging on to his shirt.

"When I was coming off I saw someone trying to get hold of Chris' shirt," said Laney. "I told the supporter to leave it out, but then he tried to get mine. For obvious reasons it was a jersey I wanted to keep hold of, but then he slapped me in the face."

The win avenged Scotland's defeat in the stadium two years ago and that remains Italy's only win in the championship.
