Rise and fall of Seve continues

13 April 2012

Seve Ballesteros was back on the leaderboard for the first time in years today - but it didn't take long for him to drop back off it.

Ballesteros, who has made just three out of 16 cuts this season, was three under and three off the pace in the first round of the German Masters in Cologne.

But a double bogey and bogey in the last three holes saw him card a level par 72. It left him seven behind Swede Henrik Nystrom (65).

Bernhard Langer is on five under with two holes to play, while Darren Clarke is a further shot back after 15. Josè Maria Olazabal and Ian Woosnam shot 70s, Lee Westwood 71 and Colin Montgomerie 72.
