Arnold Allen will return to the octagon in the New Year to take on Josh Emmett on the UFC Fight Night 167 card on 25 January.

Allen, 25, secured the biggest win of his professional career to date at UFC 239 in July, outclassing former Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez to extend his unbeaten run with the promotion to 6-0.

Standard Sport can now reveal the English featherweight’s next opponent will be American veteran Emmett, who will come into the bout on a two-fight winning streak.

Allen joins a card headlined by Curtis Blaydes and Junior dos Santos’ heavyweight clash at the PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Prior to his win over Melendez in the summer, Suffolk-born Allen scored an impression unanimous decision win over Jordan Rinaldi at UFC London last March.

His fight State-side in January however could rule out a return to the capital in 2020, with UFC back at the O2 Arena on 21 March.
