Rodgers considering new Swans deal
Manager Brendan Rodgers insists Swansea is the "perfect place" for him after holding preliminary talks over a new contract at the Liberty Stadium.
Rodgers has been on a rolling one-year deal since taking over at the south Wales club in the summer of 2010, but chairman Huw Jenkins has made it clear he would like to tie the highly-rated Northern Irishman to a long-term deal. And former Watford and Reading boss Rodgers says he still has plenty of unfinished business with the Swans.
He said: "It's something we have talked about in the background and has been left loose as my concentration was on other things. We spoke about it a few months ago and last week we spoke about it again. I love working here, it's the perfect place for me to be, I can't think of anywhere else in the world that would give me the satisfaction I get from working here.
Rodgers added: "It has been a remarkable story and journey for us and there is still a lot of work to complete.
"It has been a good start to that cycle and my job is to sustain that. If the board want to keep me on the contract I am on it does not change my quest to be successful here, but if they want to reward that and protect the club at the same time then I am open to that."
While Rodgers is a man very much in demand, Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas is a man under pressure after the Champions League defeat at Bayer Leverkusen left the Blues in danger of failing to reach the knockout stages.
The Portuguese has also overseen the club's worst start to a Premier League season in the Roman Abramovich era, but Rodgers, who worked with Villas-Boas during his time as Chelsea's youth and reserve team coach says the new man needs to be shown some patience.
"I think Andre needs time," he said. "He has come in on the back of a very good season at Porto and it's a new challenge.
"At the bigger clubs there is always lots of pressure to win games and every team will have their difficult moments.
"When you play the big games it is highlighted. It is a club in transition and he needs time and I am sure he will get that."
