Ronaldo: Chelsea will get Real one day

Ronaldo believes Chelsea could become a rival for Real Madrid and says their owner, Roman Abramovich, is good for football.

The Brazilian striker has been keeping an eye on events at Stamford Bridge since the Russian billionaire took over.

Ronaldo is one of the few top players in the world not recently linked with a move to Chelsea and is happy playing in Spain. But two of his former team-mates at Real, Claude Makelele and Geremi, have moved to Stamford Bridge. While many have doubted the motives for the Russian's takeover of Chelsea, Ronaldo has been impressed.

He said: "I am following Chelsea's progress. I hope things work out for them because if the investment they have had goes well then other people will want to put money into the game.

"I don't think of them as a threat to us yet. They still have to find their level, but they will be in the same position as Real Madrid at some point."
