Roy Hodgson turning his hand to mind games

Jason Mellor13 April 2012

Roy Hodgson piled the pressure on Fulham's rivals for Europe by insisting they've got more to lose by missing out on a top-seven Premier League finish.

Fulham ground out a goalless draw at Middlesbrough to keep up their hopes of securing a Europa League place and Hodgson said: "West Ham are still doing well, and Manchester City with the players at their disposal and Tottenham, they should be nourishing the ambition of finishing seventh with the investment they've had."

Hodgson will not risk Fulham's financial future by pressing for astronomical funds if the club reach Europe.

He added: "If we get into Europe there'd be no question of me suggesting we need seven or eight top-class players and £40million of investment because I know it's an unrealistic demand."
