Brian O’Driscoll on a roll

4 February 2013

Ireland's win over Wales has left Brian O’Driscoll with the feeling that this could be his side’s year.

A converted try from O’Driscoll saw the visitors surge into a 30-3 lead at the Millennium Stadium but they had to withstand a ferocious fightback to edge the Six Nations opener 30-22.

The way Ireland held on has left O’Driscoll believing that his side are in shape to build on that victory at home to England on Sunday.

The centre said: “This championship’s about momentum. If you lose the first you’re in trouble, if you win you’re in a good spot.

“The understanding from winning the Grand Slam in 2009 is that even when you’re not great, you have to be good. Consistency will be the key for this Six Nations.”
