Brown and Ford in fight to lead Scots

25 October 2012

Kelly Brown could succeed Ross Ford as Scotland captain for the Test with New Zealand, with head coach Andy Robinson to announce his skipper next week.

Saracens back-row Brown was first‑choice captain for this year’s Six Nations but broke his ankle.

Edinburgh hooker Ford was named skipper and despite losing his first five matches in the role, he improved that record as Scotland won their three summer-tour Tests in Australia, Fiji and Samoa.

Brown is available again for the November 11 match with the world champions, meaning there could be another change in the leadership.

“Ross has done very well as a leader and captaining the team,” said Robinson. “I also have real belief in what Kelly’s about as a leader.”
