Danny Care is ready to seal No9 spot

Care: The momentum is with me
10 April 2012

Danny Care has declared himself ready to be England's first-choice scrum-half at the World Cup.

The Harlequins No9 is in pole position to start against Argentina in 25 days after impressing in England's two warm-up games against Wales.

Ben Youngs returned to training two weeks ago after knee surgery but is expected to be on the bench when England play Ireland in Dublin on Saturday week.

Care, 24. said: "Hopefully, the momentum is with me. I was happy with my form at the end of the season, both with England and with Quins, and I'm happy with how I've started in these two games.

"I'm not one of the young boys in the team any more, which is quite scary - but I've definitely matured."

Martin Johnson will announce his 30‑man World Cup party on Monday.
