Maro Itoje is one of seven new faces to be included in England head coach Eddie Jones' first elite player squad ahead of next month's Six Nations Championship.

The 21-year-old Saracens lock has been in superb form this season and was named Aviva Premiership Player of the Month for his performances in December.

Josh Beaumont, son of grand slam-winning former England captain Bill, who is chairman of the Rugby Football Union, has also received his first call-up.

Harlequins flanker Jack Clifford has been included along with Northampton Saints tight-head prop Paul Hill but Will Fraser, Geoff Parling and Ben Morgan have all missed out.

Danny Cipriani has also been overlooked but Saracens winger Chris Ashton, who won the last of his 39 caps in June 2014, has been deemed worthy of a place.

Ollie Devoto has come in as an injury replacement for Manu Tuilagi, who has endured a frustrating 15 month spell on the sidelines.

Jones, who replaced Stuart Lancaster last November, has unveiled a 33-man squad but will not reveal the identity of his captain for another two weeks.

Northampton hooker Dylan Hartley, who missed the World Cup due to disciplinary issues, is one of the favourites to replaces Chris Robshaw.

A total of 10 players who featured in last summer's World Cup campaign on home soil have been culled by the Australian coach.
