Rusedski off to a winning start

Greg Rusedski won his first round match at the Australian Men's Hard court Championships in Adelaide today.
Sixth-seed Rusedski defeated Spain's Jacobo Diaz 6-3, 7-6 in the event, which marks the start of the 2002 ATP Champions Race.
Meanwhile, Ja n -Michael Gambill beat Arnaud Clement 6-4, 6-4 to give the top-seeded United States a winning 2-0 lead over France in the Hopman Cup in Perth. Earlier, Monica Seles defeated Virginie Razzano 6-3, 6-4 in the first match of the mixed team event.
