American Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk has named Tony Finau as his final wildcard pick, making up their 12-man team to take on Thomas Bjorn’s European’s.

Furyk named Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Bryson DeChambeau as three of his four picks last week, but waited until after the completion of the BMW Championship, which was delayed by rain, to complete his team.

Finau, who has top ten finishes at three majors this year, could have had a very different season. He rose to the attention of many casual fans when, having rolled his ankle in the par-three contest at the Masters when celebrating an ace, he simply popped it back into place in a clip which quickly spread around the world.

The 28-year-old will take part in his first Ryder Cup, alongside fellow rookies Justin Thomas and DeChambeau, as USA go in search of their first win on European soil for the first time since Tom Watson’s team brought the trophy back from The Belfry in 1993.
