Second blow for under-fire Tyson

Mike Tyson was hit by more bad news today when he was told he may face not one but two charges of rape when police meet with official prosecutors.

Tyson was yesterday refused a licence to box in Nevada in the wake of a brawl at a press conference with Lennox Lewis, the latest in a series of incidents involving the former heavyweight champion.

Las Vegas police have conducted a four-month investigation into allegations that the 35-year-old American, already a convicted rapist, had sexually assaulted a dancer at his home in the city. Now the Las Vegas Review Journal has reported that detectives are looking into a second claim that Tyson raped another woman in November 2000.

It is understood that the woman involved in the new case came forward just five weeks ago.

The police will formally present their evidence to prosecutors tomorrow. Doug Herndon, Chief Deputy District Attorney for Clark County, said: "The submission will include a request for charges in connection with both (alleged) victims."
