Sir Jackie's title warning for 'arrogant' Lewis

In the spotlight: Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton is guilty of arrogance and will wreck his world title bid if he repeats the blunder that left him out of the points last weekend.

That was the warning from ex-Formula One champion Sir Jackie Stewart ahead of Sunday's Chinese Grand Prix.

Hamilton botched his start from pole position and then ran Kimi Raikkonen off the track at the first corner in Japan. "This was not Lewis's finest hour," said Stewart. "There's an old adage, 'You can't win the race in the first corner, but you can lose it'.

"Lewis's approach in that first corner was slightly arrogant and he braked far too late. Lewis is still very young and although he comes across as very cool, he doesn't always have that mind management when he's racing.

"He can still win the championship but not if he drives the last two races the way he drove in Japan."
