Skipper Bob Casey’s debt of thanks to medics

13 April 2012

Bob Casey believes London Irish's medical team have played a key role in the club's pursuit of major honours this season.

Although their hugely impressive back three of Delon Armitage, Topsy Ojo and try-scoring sensation Sailosi Tagicakibau have all been hampered by injuries this season, the majority of the squad have avoided the kind of problems that have afflicted other leading teams in England.

And Casey believes the club's decision to bring in experts like physio Declan Lynch has helped minimise the threat of serious problems. The Irish captain said:"We have had injuries this season but that's the nature of professional rugby.

"Overall, we have had less injuries this season and Declan and the rest of the medical staff have done a brilliant job. Delon's back now and looking fantastic, Topsy's fit and just needs game time while Losi is about a week away from being back and he's the best wing in the Premiership."

Saracens' Guinness Premiership match at Sale on Saturday has already fallen victim to the weather.
