Tickets for more than 20 Olympic sports are likely to be available next week after a last-minute scramble for seats, it was revealed today.
The window for people who had previously failed to get tickets closed last night at 11pm, with many Londoners logging on just minutes before the deadline.
A week-long sale saw 928,000 made available to losers, plus early priority to 20,000 people who were victims of a computer error.
Blocks of tickets to different sports were staggered and released each day, included archery, modern pentathlon, basketball, BMX and mountain bike.
There were also 70,000 ground tickets — at £10 for adults and £5
for children and seniors — for the Olympic Park released for the first time, allowing spectators to watch sports on big screens.
Today’s early ticket data from Games organiser Locog revealed that sell-out sports include swimming, tennis, cycling and equestrian.
The opening and closing ceremonies are likely to have gone.
But when the rest of the unsold tickets go on general sale on Wednesday there are likely to be more than 20 sports still available — including volleyball, taekwondo, football and fencing — although most of the cheapest tickets are expected to be gone.
Last night’s successful Londoners included Adil Pastakia, 49, of Teddington, who secured three rowing tickets at 10.34pm for his wife and 15-year-old daughter.
He said: “I was surprised tickets were available. The ones we really wanted were for artistic gymnastics but we were being quoted £450 each, which I thought was crazy.”

On May 29 extra tickets will be released for road cycling competitions at Hampton Court Palace and Box Hill in Surrey. More Paralympics tickets will go on sale this Monday, to mark 100 days to go.
