Spurs rule out Raul move

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has ruled out adding former Real Madrid captain Raul to his strikeforce, but admits that he could be interested in a move for Sevilla hitman Luis Fabiano.

Raul marked his last day of a 16-year stay at the Santiago Bernabeu on Monday by claiming that he could now be set for a move to the Barclays Premier League. The 33-year-old is also considering a move to Schalke but Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester United and Spurs have all been linked with a move for the striker.

Redknapp told Sky Sports News: "I like Fabiano. I've got other targets, but I'd be a liar if I said I didn't like him, he's a top player. Raul was a great player at Real Madrid, but I wouldn't think he would be a player we would bring to Tottenham. Financially, I don't think it would be possible to do a deal like that."

Fabiano, who scored three goals for Brazil at the World Cup, could leave Sevilla this summer, with the Spanish club thought to be keen to sell the 29-year-old before his contract runs out next summer.

However, Fabiano insists he is going nowhere this summer, despite speculation linking him with a host of clubs.

AC Milan were another club who had already expressed their interest in Luis Fabiano and the Brazil international reportedly claimed he would love a move to the Rossoneri or Manchester United.

Chelsea were also thought to have made enquiries but the 29-year-old insists he will still be a Sevilla player when the Copa del Rey winners kick off the season in the Supercopa de Espana against Barcelona next month.

"During my time at the World Cup I was very calm because I knew that I was going to stay at Sevilla," Luis Fabiano told the club's radio station. "Much was said but nothing true.

"I couldn't talk because I was with the Brazil team but I have a year left on my contract with Sevilla and I am very happy.

"I really want to defend once again the Sevilla badge and I would love to help lift a trophy in August."
