Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard have been included in the squad for the 2015 MLS All-Star Game, despite the fact that neither midfielder has made their competitive debut for New York City FC or LA Galaxy respectively.

MLS commissioner Don Garber hand picked the former England internationals, who became the league's most recent Designated Players after ending their illustrious Premier League careers at the end of last season.

Ex-Liverpool captain Gerrard featured for his new side for the first time last Saturday, managing just 45 minutes during the 2-1 victory over Mexican side Club America.

Meanwhile, Lampard was in line to start against Toronto FC on Sunday but had to sit out the thrilling 4-4 encounter with a calf strain.

A fan voted list of 11 players that could also feature in the showcase fixture between the division's elite and Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur on July 29 has also been released.

Orlando City's Kaka and New York City's David Villa have been included, along with both Michael Bradley and Obafemi Martins.

However, the fan picked players are not assured of a starting berth and it is now up to coach Pablo Mastroeni and Garber to decide who deserves to be in their side; newcomers or the league's established players.
