Super Bowl 2015: Q&A with NFL stars Byron Maxwell and Patrick Chung ahead of Patriots v Seahawks

Super Bowl 2015: Sunday, from 10pm
Kenneth Elliott29 January 2015

The Seattle Seahawks defend their NFL title against the New England Patriots in Arizona on Sunday and opponents Byron Maxwell (Seahawks) and Patrick Chung (Patriots) talk ahead of the big game…

What is it about your team that will help you lift the Vince Lombardi trophy on Sunday night?

Byron Maxwell: Our ability to run the ball and our ability to stop the run.

Patrick Chung: We’re a family on and off the field; it’s like a bunch of brothers. And we work hard and put a lot into our craft.

Which opposition player can do the most damage to your team and why?

BM: There’s no specific player I’ll mention but the biggest challenge they present is with their ability to adjust. That’s the biggest thing for them, they can adjust and play any style of football.

PC: People look to Marshawn Lynch but you have to stop everybody. They are a really good team. They have a quarterback who can make some plays, two good running-backs, a good bunch of receivers and an excellent defense.

Super Bowl XLIX - the players to watch

1/9

Who is the biggest character/joker in your locker room and what does he do to make team-mates laugh?

BM: That’s a tough one. We have a lot of characters. Michael Bennett, Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Pete Carroll, we’ve got a lot of characters. A lot of big personalities, like Marshawn Lynch.

PC: Chandler Jones. He’s a clown and like a kid out there!

If you could pick the headline act at a Super Bowl half-time show, who would you pick and why?

BM: I like Ashanti. She’s always been my favourite.

PC: Anyone who can perform as well as sing! I don’t get to see it so it doesn’t matter but you need someone who will keep the crowd going.

How would you feel, and how would your fellow Americans feel, about a Super Bowl being staged at Wembley Stadium in London in the future and you playing in it?

BM: Bring it on. I’ve never been so it’d be a great experience. It would probably be my first time over there so I could enjoy the city and we’d win another ring.

PC: I would be game for it. It’s a change-up and I’d like it. But let’s worry about this one first.

Sunday, Sky Sports 1 & 3 (10pm), Channel 4 (10.30pm) and BBC Radio 5 (11pm).
