Swimmers struggle again on day two

Britain's swimmers again had a relatively fruitless second morning in the pool at the Beijing Olympic Games.

Only Jemma Lowe, who scraped into the semi-finals of the 100 meters butterfly on Saturday night, offered a crumb of comfort by finishing fourth and reaching Monday morning's final.

Scot Hannah Miley finished sixth in a high-quality 400m individual medley final won by Australia's Stephanie Rice in a world-record time, while the 4x100m freestyle relay team touched the wall in seventh place. Chris Cook failed to reach the 100m breaststroke final as he finished seventh.
