Sydney target Teddy

12 April 2012

A-League side Sydney FC have confirmed their interest in signing veteran striker Teddy Sheringham from West Ham.

The former Manchester United and England marksman, 41 next month, is out of contract at Upton Park in the summer and a move to Australia could be on the cards.

"He's still playing at the top level and is, by any standards, an excellent player," club chief executive George Perry told Sydney's Daily Telegraph.

"He has a wealth of experience and his presence would put bums on seats. He comes highly recommended."

Sydney are also yet to appoint a full-time replacement for Terry Butcher, who was sacked as coach last month.
