Symonds had not faced a delivery in the nine-run loss before a naked man charged on to the field and began dodging security guards and players.

The 26-year-old Brisbane man then headed towards Symonds at the non-striker's end, who stepped into his path and floored the streaker with a hefty shoulder barge.

The International Cricket Council's Level 4.2 regulation covers "physical assault on another player, umpire, referee, official or spectator", but Symonds will not face a penalty from Cricket Australia, according to officials.

"I only saw it live and it looked like the guy was running at him and Andrew to some extent tried to protect himself," paceman Stuart Clark told Channel Seven today.

"I probably need to slow it down and have a look at some slow motion of it, but the guy didn't get up all that quickly from what I saw."

Australia captain Ricky Ponting added: "I'd just got out, so I was sulking. I haven't seen it yet, there's been a bit of talk and laughter around the dressing room, but I haven't spoken to Symmo about it."
