Tadulala to join Gloucester

12 April 2012

Fijian winger Semi Tadulala looks to have played his last match for Wakefield after agreeing a cross-code move to Gloucester.

The 28-year-old has been a big crowd favourite at Belle Vue since joining the Wildcats from Melbourne Storm three years ago and was their leading try-scorer with 17 this season.

Tadulala, who helped Wakefield to victory in their relegation decider against Castleford earlier this month, is joining the Guinness Premiership club initially on loan until the end of January. But Wakefield have agreed a transfer fee in case both parties want to make the move permanent.

"He is under contract for next season. But he has a burning desire to play rugby union at international level, and this will help him achieve that aim," said Wakefield chief executive Steve Ferres.

"It is basically a loan deal. But if he likes it and they want him, the likelihood is that he will stay."

Tadulala, who played for Fiji against Russia and Australia in the 2000 World Cup in England, had been a target for Super League champions Bradford Bulls.

The move for Tadulala represents a second swoop on rugby league's ranks within a month by Gloucester, who are understood to have agreed a contract with Bradford threequarter Karl Pryce.
