British tennis star Andy Murray has made a donation to the charity of a Cambridgeshire hospital having recently undergone a scan there.

Murray’s scan at Addenbrooke’s Hospital took place before the coronavirus crisis swept the UK, but the two-time Wimbledon champion highlighted the ‘difficult time’ the health service is going through in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a touching video message, Murray praised the commitment of the hospital staff before revealing he had made a donation to their charity, the Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust.

“Everyone there was fantastic and extremely helpful. I have made a donation to the charity to say thank you very much for everything that you’re doing,” said Murray.

“This is obviously an extremely difficult time for everyone but none more so than for the healthcare workers, so I just wanted to say a big thanks for all of your hard work, dedication and the sacrifices that you’re making at this time for all of us.”
