'You b******, you have to stay in line': Boris Becker in bizarre outburst at Wimbledon

Three-time Wimbledon champion Boris Becker turned the air blue today when he swore during a live BBC broadcast.

The 50-year-old made the blunder when explaining an apparent role as an ambassador for the Central African Republic to claim diplomatic immunity from bankruptcy proceedings against him.

Becker had joined presenter Sue Barker and fellow former player Martina Navratilova for a BBC broadcast in front of centre court ahead of the start of the 2018 tournament.

Ms Barker began with a question about accusations that Boris had falsely claimed to be a diplomat of the Central African Republic.

“I know it has been a very difficult few weeks for you… so what is your association with the Central African Republic?” she asked.

He responded with a rambling explanation of the story, saying: “I was asked by the ambassador by the ambassador of the Republic of Central Africa [at the] beginning of the year whether I want to get involved on a diplomatic level to help the country back on its feet… and I was honoured.

“I met the President, his excellency Mr Touadera, in Brussels and in Paris a number of times. They gave me official documentation, they gave me a passport, and so I started my course.

“Unfortunately the Foreign Ministry made some comments that it was false passport and I have the same questions because I would like to help the country and I was asked by the President […] I am sure the President will find a solution very soon.”

Navratilova then cut in and said: “He just wanted diplomatic immunity from everything… not wait in line at immigration”

To which he replied, laughing: “My friends told me ‘you b****** you have to wait in line!’”

“Oops, apologies for that…” Barker then said to the camera, prompting Becker to gasp and put his hands over his mouth.

An embarrassed Sue Barker quickly apologised to viewers.

The former Wimbledon champion has been declared bankrupt and forced to sell his trophies to begin paying off a rumoured £54 million debt.

He has claimed diplomatic immunity from bankruptcy proceedings - citing his role as a sports attache to the Central African Republic.

However, the country’s foreign minister, Charles Armel Doubane, has called Becker’s diplomatic passport a fake.
