Roger Federer battled back from a set down to book his place in the Australian Open with a four-set victory over Hungarian Marton Fucsovics.

Federer lost the opening set 6-4, but reached the last eight with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 win, which sets up a meeting with world No100 Tennys Sandgren for a place in the semi-finals.

The Swiss has now reached 15 quarter-finals in his last 17 appearances at the Australian Open, and is bidding for a seventh title in Melbourne.

Novak Djokovic will likely stand in his way, and the pair are due to meet in the last four if both can successfully negotiate their quarter-finals.
