Tickle - It was my day

12 April 2012

Hull forward Danny Tickle put his match-winning display in the Challenge Cup semi-final against Wakefield down to a good day at the office.

Tickle scored 20 points, kicking six goals to Danny Brough's two after the two teams scored five tries apiece.

He said: "You have your days as a goalkicker. I strike the ball the same every time but you can't kick them all. It's nice when you see them go over."

Tickle, a Cup final runner-up with Wigan in 2003, gave his side a dream start and ruined John Kear's hopes of becoming the first man to coach three different teams to Challenge Cup glory.

"We set a goal to start big," added Tickle. "We'd been practising the kick all week because we knew it would come down to the luck of the bounce and it happened twice for me in the first eight minutes. I couldn't have asked for a better start.

"Wakefield scored two tries through kicks as well. Kicking and competing for the ball is a big part of the game."
