Tiger cruising at Target Challenge

12 April 2012

Tiger Woods shot a 5-under-par 67 in Saturday's third round of the Target World Challenge and leads Jim Furyk by six strokes and Zach Johnson by seven.

Woods is at 18-under (198), and missed breaking the tournament's 54-hole record by a stroke.

Woods began the day with a four-stroke advantage over Furyk at Sherwood Country Club and started strongly with birdies on his first two holes, building his lead to five shots.

Woods made a bogey on the fourth hole and Furyk made birdie to cut the lead to three. Woods built it back to four shots with another birdie on No. 6.

A missed par putt from four feet on the par-3 eighth hole dropped the lead to three and Woods settled for a 2-under 34 at the turn.

Furyk shot a bogey-free 33, and avoided a mistake on the ninth hole. Furyk, who finished with a 3-under 69, hooked his tee shot and then was forced to lay up. His wedge shot nearly went in the cup and he tapped in for a par.

Woods made birdies on 10, 11 and added another on the final hole to build the lead to six.
