England hooker Andy Titterrell has agreed a two-year contract with Guinness Premiership club Leeds Carnegie.

Former Sale Sharks and Gloucester forward Titterrell, 29, initially moved to Leeds on a short-term deal in December, which was then extended until the end of this season.

"The way I left Gloucester last summer left me questioning whether I wanted to continue as a professional player," said Titterrell, who toured New Zealand with the 2005 British and Irish Lions. "But Leeds Carnegie have given me back that excitement and buzz, and it is great to get a two-year deal."

Leeds head coach Neil Back added: "Andy has been a true professional since the moment he stepped through the door at our training ground.

"He is someone who takes a great deal of pride in his own fitness and work ethic, and he has fitted in well to our squad."
