Ton gees Bell up for one-dayers

12 April 2012

Ian Bell is refreshed and eager to get started with the five-match one-day series against Sri Lanka after being given an enforced rest from England's Twenty20 squad.

The Warwickshire batsman was a surprise omission from the ICC World Twenty20 campaign and, although England paid the consequences for that decision, Bell has benefited from two weeks away from cricket and has returned hungry for a return to action.

"I was obviously disappointed not to go (to the Twenty20), but it was also nice to have a bit of a break from cricket as well," admitted Bell, England's man of the series during their series triumph over India.

"I'm now at the point where I'm really looking forward to this series and I'm really full of energy again and I just want to carry on and be involved in a good series.

"Mentally switching off has helped me. Not picking up a bat and thinking about cricket for the first time in a while and it gave me an opportunity when we did meet up to get some quality preparation at Loughborough."
