Tweddle misses out on bronze because of dodgy dismount

Missed out: Beth Tweddle came fourth
13 April 2012

Beth Tweddle felt "gutted" today after she narrowly missed out on a medal in the uneven bars.

The former world champion finished fourth with a score of 16.625, just 0.025 points behind Chinese bronze medallist Yilin Yang.

The 23-year-old from Chester performed an outstanding routine to loud applause but lost her balance on the dismount; a fault she believed cost her a medal.

She said: "I'm really gutted. I was really close but this time last week I didn't think I would even make the final. The dismount was not the highlight of my routine and I think it probably cost me my medal place."

China's Kexin He and Nastia Liukin, of the United States, tied for first place with 16.725 but He was awarded gold on a tie-break.
