Up and down for Lockwood

David Smith13 April 2012

Matt Lockwood has revealed a double target this season - to be a relegation saviour with Barnet and a promotion hero for Colchester United.

If a waterlogged Underhill pitch survives a late pitch inspection, Lockwood is set to make his debut for Barnet tonight in a crucial League Two basement scrap against Grimsby Town.

And once his month's loan with Ian Hendon's side is up, the former Leyton Orient stalwart will return to Colchester hoping to help push for a play-off place in League One.

Lockwood, an attack-minded defender, jumped at the chance to join Barnet after a knee injury kept him sidelined at United.

He said: "I'm hoping to have some games at Barnet, get match fit and try and get back in the Colchester team."
