Waldouck woe for Wasps

12 April 2012

Wasps centre Dominic Waldouck faces up to eight weeks on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury during the EDF Energy Cup defeat at Gloucester last Saturday.

Uncapped Waldouck, who toured New Zealand with England earlier this year, has a posterior cruciate ligament problem.

He will miss Wasps' opening Heineken Cup games against Castres on Sunday and Leinster on Saturday week. He is likely to be out of action until at least late November.

Waldouck, 21, is currently in the England Saxons squad and could have been promoted to senior Test duties next month.

England boss Martin Johnson can replace injured players in his elite 32-man group, which means Waldouck would have been among a number of Saxons players effectively on standby.

England launch their autumn schedule against the Pacific Islanders on November 8, followed by appointments with Australia, South Africa and New Zealand.
