Warnock is lining up a bid for Carle

13 April 2012

Neil Warnock is considering signing Bristol City midfielder Nick Carle as a replacement for Ben Watson, who has turned down a new contract at Crystal Palace.

Carle only joined Bristol City in January for £500,000 from Turkish club Genclerbirligi.

The 26-year-old made his City debut against Palace and played a further three times against them last season, including both legs of the Championship play-off semi-final, which City won.

Carle made a big impression on Warnock, and the Palace boss said the Australian is one of two midfielders he is looking at.

He said: "Carle is the type of player we're after. Both him and our other target have not only got bags of ability but also enthusiasm - they go all over the pitch.

"They would help bring a little more dimension to us attacking wise."
