Wenger downcast over Vieira

Arsene Wenger admitted today that he fears Patrick Vieira has played his last game for Arsenal.

Vieira's protracted move to Real Madrid is stalling because of a dispute over personal demands but Wenger, preparing for Sunday's Premiership game at Everton, said: "I wouldn't say I am genuinely optimistic Patrick will stay.

"Today I would bet he would go rather than stay. But the deal with Real isn't done and if it's not done by this weekend, he is staying at Arsenal."
