Williams wants return fight with beaten Tyson

Mike Tyson was today offered the chance to avenge his humiliating defeat at the hands of British heavyweight Danny Williams.

In an open letter to the former undisputed champion of the world, Williams tells Tyson: "I dare you to fight me again, anywhere, anytime."

It is nearly seven months since Williams dumped Tyson on his backside in the fourth round of their clash in Louisville, Kentucky.

The American hasn't fought since then, while Williams lost a challenge for the WBC world title to Ukrainian Vitali Klitschko in December. Tyson, who underwent knee surgery following his shock loss to Londoner Williams, this week began training in Phoenix for a summer comeback.

He is likely to sign a promotional deal with Bob Arum, who said: "It's important for Mike to get his confidence back, so we'll put him in two or three fights to restore his belief that he can beat anybody."

But in the letter Williams says: "Mike, you need to beat me to prove you should still be taken seriously as a heavyweight rather than a touring sideshow, knocking over part-time fighters. I need another big win to prove I am worthy of another run towards the world heavyweight championship.

"You've dismissed my victory as a fluke. Are you so deep in denial? Why not prove to the world my win was just a stroke of rotten luck for you?"

Should Tyson duck the challenge, Williams could make his comeback against British heavyweight champion Matt Skelton, who tomorrow takes on Fabio Moli, of Argentina, for the vacant WBU belt at Wembley Conference Centre.
