World number one Caroline Wozniacki made hard work of her second-round match at the French Open against Aleksandra Wozniak before overcoming the Canadian 6-3 7-6 (10/8).

Wozniacki, 20, had breezed through the opening round to set up a clash with Wozniak, ranked 162, and the Dane looked set to see off her rival with ease as she broke serve in game two before dominating the rest of the opening set.

But Wozniak, who reached round two at Roland Garros last year, fought back in the second set and took a 6-3 lead in the tie-breaker before Wozniacki caused a short delay by querying a decision.

The stoppage slowed Wozniak's momentum and Wozniacki, who received a number of boos and whistles from the crowd for her questioning of the umpire, won the next five points to advance into the third round where she will face either Sara Errani of Italy or Slovakia's Daniela Hantuchova.
