Sky News presenter Stephen Dixon was given a stern telling off by Eamonn Holmes live on air.

Holmes, 56, was midway through an interview with Jamie Oliver on This Morning when his mobile phone started ringing.

Not wanting to miss the call, Holmes interrupted the superfoods segment to answer.

His wife Ruth Langsford asked who was calling, to which Holmes replied: “It's Steve Dixon.”

Angered by Dixon for forgetting about his daytime TV slot, Holmes said: “Steve. Would you go? I'm live on air at the moment. If you look at your TV I'm on. Do you not watch the television? OK. Bye bye.”

Oliver asked “Who’s that?” before adding that he “would have liked to have spoken to him”.

The TV blunder comes a few weeks after fellow host Phillip Schofield nearly missed his cue because he was trying to download Pokemon Go.

Holly Willoughby was forced to hold the fort as Schofield struggled to get the app.

Explaining Schofield’s behaviour to viewers, Willoughby said: “I managed to download it quite quickly. Phil, however, had to go – he almost didn’t make it on air! ‘I haven’t got time for telly, I need to download Pokemon’.

"Words you thought you’d never hear from Philip Schofield.”

Holmes and Langsford are filling in for Schofield and Willoughby during the summer break.
