Police are hunting a thug who stabbed a man repeatedly at a busy south London Tube station on Good Friday.

At about 11.20pm on April 14 the victim was sitting on a bench on a platform at Streatham Common station when a train pulled up.

A man got off the train and attacked him, police said.

There was a scuffle close to the café on the platform and the offender stabbed the victim multiple times, before fleeing the station on foot.

The victim was found by a member of the public who called the emergency services.

Officers would like to speak to the man shown in the CCTV image as he may have information which could help with the investigation.

Det Insp Darren Gough said: “The victim sustained serious injuries as a result of being stabbed several times.

“He was very lucky that he was not more seriously or even fatally injured, and he has now been discharged from hospital.

“We believe that this was an isolated incident and we are working to establish the full circumstances of what happened and why.

“As part of the investigation, I would like to speak to the man shown in the CCTV image. I believe he may have important information about what happened.”

The attacker is believed to have boarded the train at Selhurst station.

Anyone who has any information or saw what happened is asked to call 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016 quoting reference 1700026424.
